"Arrest Us - We Know The Password"

A Kutztown, PA school cracks down

This one is almost unbelievable.

Long story short, Apple Computers can be configured to have multiple accounts. Unless your account is an Admin account, you are restricted on installing new software and you can be restricted from using software already on the computer or from accessing the entire internet.

But in order to make the system work, someone has to secure the Admin password. And preferably, it shouldn't be anything that can be easily guessed. Especially not something like, oh, I don't know, a label taped to the back of the computer.

Speaking as a Mac user, installing a new disk image isn't all that hard. It may take a while, but it is basically a matter of letting the computer do it's thing.

"Looks like another case where the wetware let the hardware down."

Granted, what the kids did was against the rules. But charging them with a felony?

Hat tip to Jason O'Grady's PowerPage.
