Two views on liberty


I know which one I choose.
A bill proposed in the the South Carolina House of Representatives.

But banning the sale of sex toys is actually quite common in some Southern states.

The South Carolina bill, proposed by Republican Rep. Ralph Davenport, would make it a felony to sell devices used primarily for sexual stimulation and allow law enforcement to seize sex toys from raided businesses.

The measure would add sex toys to the state's obscenity laws, which already prohibit the dissemination and advertisement of obscene materials.

People convicted under obscenity laws face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Here it is folks, the classic distinction between Republicans and libertarians.

Republicans will tell you what to think and how to act based on moral (usually Christian) values. They have no problem with imposing their morality on you by force of law.

Libertarians think that your morality and your happiness is up to you. The one thing that you aren't allowed to do is interfere with someone else's choice. Anything else is your choice and your responsibility.
