Liquid explosive terror threat

Government response and public acceptance is worrisome

So what about the big news story of the day?

I'm glad the plot was stopped.

But the aftermath worries me.

Once again people are losing another piece of their freedom.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I think I would be in serious withdrawal if I was separated from my personal electronics. My iPod and Palm especially. I do not handle Palm withdrawal well. And music, well, it helps me keep my head when I am under stress.

Assuming this is temporary, I am not sure what good it does. We'll have the same potential problem once we go back to "normal."

If it's permanent, well, what will we give up next? Clothing? Will they put us to sleep when we board the plane? Will we be subject to invasive medical searches?

As Sean Lynch points out at the Catallarchy blog, the terrorists have won this round.

There are news reports of National Guardsmen being deployed in New York, Boston, and California. I wonder if they will have ammunition this time around. No word yet about the secondary locations. Given what time of year it is, I'd be worried about Orlando, Phoenix Sky Harbor, and Las Vegas.

What worries me is that we're being sold a bill of goods. We're being told that more government monitoring and less freedom will make us safer.

Jewelry, watches, and shoes could be next.
