Harriet Miers

Person or persons unknown

I don't know much about Harriet Miers, but what I do know bothers me.

It is not that she has never served as a judge before. Personally I think the Supreme Court needs fewer judges (and fewer lawyers) just so the USSC never really loses sight of it's purpose.

But as a long term associate and advisor to George W. Bush, it is hard to see this appointment as anything other than cronyism.

Well, there is the outside chance that this is the distraction, the one that Mr. Bush knows will be challenged, nominated for no other reason than to keep the fangs from the real nomination. But I consider that unlikely.
