Old news but good news

Connecticut Libertarian Party rejects Ann Coulter

Well, this is one 2002 story I hadn't heard, but it doesn't surprise me.

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter got a polite but firm "no thanks" when she approached the Connecticut LP about running for Congress as a Libertarian -- and responded with a vitriolic column that accused Libertarians of being "addicted" to the drug issue.

But Connecticut LP officials say they made the right decision since Coulter isn't really a Libertarian and has admitted that she planned to run only to punish a "pantywaist" incumbent who didn't vote to impeach President Clinton

"It doesn't do the LP any good to run celebrities who won't take a solid Libertarian stand -- all that does is confuse the public and link us with Republicans," said Connecticut LP State Chair Carl Vassar. "In other words, it harms us."

Bravo for sticking up for principles.

I've read Ann Coulter, she can be witty and occasionally I can agree with her. But as a candidate? I'd support Rush Limbaugh over Ann Coulter. And I would support Tammy Bruce over Rush Limbaugh. I'd still argue with her, but I would support her.

Still looking for a good libertarian (small l) candidate.
