The hype may be reason to doubt the NSA bugging story

It turns out that one of the authors of the NSA bugging story in the New York Times yesterday has a book coming out very soon.

Matt Drudge and Rush Limbaugh both mention it.

Now, does that affect the factual content of the article? Impossible to say with what we've seen so far, but a disclaimer would have been nice.

One of the interesting questions that has been going around the right side of the blogosphere is why is Senator Spector interested in investigating the White House, but not the people who leaked the information to the New York Times?

Why does this sound remarkably like the Valarie Plame/Joe Wilson case?
