Deserts are supposed to be dry

Before this is blamed on climate changes

I can already hear the global warming crowd talking about this one.

One of the things you learn while living in the desert is that weather comes and goes in cycles. While this does make things dry, that happens. That is why there are reservoirs all over the Southwest. Right now there is a high pressure system that stretches from the coast of Texas up past the northern border of Utah. It's been moving around for days, but it has pretty much blocked any weather from entering Arizona.

It's not due to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere or industrial activity. Most of the state is a desert. So is Utah. So is Nevada. So is a good portion of New Mexico and Colorado. So is a great deal of California for that matter, including Los Angeles.

As hard as it may be to accept, dry periods are normal in a desert.
