Protesting immigration reform

I've been watching the protests against "immigration reform."

There are a couple of things that I have noticed.

First, the protesters seem to be a remarkably homogeneous group, although it is probably not politically correct to say so.

And second, despite the fact that the protests are taking place in the United States and the protesters are heavily dependent on the freedom and opportunity offered by the U.S., there doesn't seem to be one American flag in all the protests. And that is odd, considering all the Mexican flags I see.
