Students protest McCain as commencement speaker

But not for any substantial reason

You know, when I saw the headline on Drudge about this article, I had some hopes.

Were they referring to his support on the War on Terror? I wouldn't agree with them, but at least it would have been a good debate.

How about his stand on illegal drugs? Man, if students someplace in America called Senator McCain on the carpet about that, I'd support them. I'd pay money to see it. I'd pay money for OTHER people to see it.

How about his protesting Congressional earmarks while trying to siphon off funds for Iraq to border security? No such luck.

How about protesting his campaign finance reform efforts and the blatant violation of the Constitution? That may be treasonable activity by the Senator, but it's not enough to get these students riled.

No. The students are objecting to his stand on homosexual marriage.

And also his speaking at Liberty University, founded by Jerry Falwell.

Gods, this is depressing.

Of all the things that you could hold John McCain accountable for, this is pretty low on the list.

Is gay marriage an important issue? Well tell me where you stand on poly marriage, and I will answer your question.

The other issues I listed are examples of Senator McCain either working to restrict or rescind existing rights of all Americans.

If you are going to object to someone, find a better way to do it than trotting out the party approved line.
