Yelling into the wind

How do you get people to listen when they keep saying what they have been told and don't think for themselves?

One of the most frustrating things with this blog is that certain topics keep coming up again and again. It's not that I haven't thought about topics, it's that people are saying the exact same things and it keeps hitting the news.

Global warming. Can you show that it is significantly different from what has happened before? Can you show a link between atmospheric carbon and temperature increase independently of computer models?

Illegal immigration. What steps can we take that will keep the hard core criminals out and still keep freedom for American citizens?

And now Katrina comes up again. People are talking about the waste of relief money. Well, New Orleans wasted billions before, why should this be any different?

I can tell you that most of the problems that the "Drug War" is supposed to fix are caused by drugs being illegal in the first place.

I can tell you the reason why adequate medical care is so hard to find is the same reason why public schools are failing.

I can tell you that government makes a lousy nanny.

I can tell you that while I would love to see a massive disarmament, as things stand now it would almost certainly invite attacks against the United States. I don't like that we've been forced in this corner (even if we helped paint ourselves there), but I don't see an alternative short of surrender.

These are topics I have talked about time and time again. It's hard to get the fire going, especially when I can't count on the cable company letting me post.

More topics this afternoon.
