Wiccan Soldier Story

The story "has legs," but it is arguing for the wrong isses

Red Cedar Owl reminded me that CNN carried a piece on the Wiccan vet memorial plaque a couple of days ago, and then Headline News carried one a little later the same day.

I think I saw a part of one, and they were doing a poll about if Wicca should be "allowed" it's own markers.

There is no "allowing" about it. That is what annoys me.

Freedom of religion applies to everyone, or it applies to no one. If the VA doesn't allow a decorated vet the symbol of his faith, then every single memorial plaque and gravestone maintained by the Veteran's Administration should have their religious symbols removed immediately.

This isn't something that is allowed out of the goodness of people's hearts, it's a fundamental right. Until it is recognized as such, then it only exists because enough people have raised a stink about it.

Would you like the expressions of your faith subject to public opinion?
