Blood in the water

Here a scandal, there a scandal, everywhere a scandal

You'd think that the Mark Foley case would have blown itself out by now.
Both sides are showing their true colors.

In the case of the Republicans, it's getting downright pathetic. From The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News labeling Foley a Democrat to Dennis Hastert blaming George Soros, well, it's just a little much.

It is looking more and more like there was a plan to derail the Republicans just before the election, but I can't blame Soros.

He covers his tracks better than that.

But on the other hand, I am getting EXTREMELY tired of the Democrats sanctimoniously offering themselves as moral alternatives, just because they aren't Republicans.

You see, I remember Gerry Studds.

This doesn't excuse anyone's behavior, it just means there are different standards. What will be overlooked and possibly suppressed when it's a Democrat will be a press feeding frenzy for a Republican.

While the Republicans have screwed up big time, let's not forget some of the Democrat all stars. Like William Jefferson, the Congressman who was escorted to his New Orleans home by the Louisiana National Guard after Hurricane Katrina and the guy with $90 grand in his freezer. Then there is Global Crossing, Let's not forget that Enron collapsed AFTER the newly elected Bush Administration made it very clear it wouldn't be extending the "special privileges" that the company had enjoyed with the Clinton Administration.

Rush Limbaugh lists thirty years of Democrat scandals.

Corruption isn't a Republican problem and it isn't a Democrat problem.

Corruption is a government problem.

Let me make that perfectly clear.

Corruption is a government problem.

The more power that a government has, the more it will be corrupted.

There aren't that many solutions.

As voters, we can insist that government stick to the Bill of Rights. We can insist on term limits. We can insist on full disclosure. All these things would help, but they still have one weakness.

We're stuck with the choice between Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

In this election season, we really should choose None of the Above. The political parties, especially the two majors, are a root reason for corruption. I still think the RICO Act should be applied to the two national parties.

Suppose that Congress didn't have enough members to legally meet and pass legislation. Would that be any worse than the avalanche of misguided laws we are buried in now?
