The new Pope

Why criticize the Pope?

Since the new Pope was elected, there has been a vibe running through parts of the Neopagan community, and to a lesser extent some of the "liberal" community as well.

The implication is that this Benedict XVI should listen to other faith groups and heed their concerns.

My problem with this is that many of these people aren't Catholic, and some aren't even Christian. The Roman Catholic Church is not a democracy, one man calls the shots for the RCC. If you don't like it, you don't have to belong. Until the RCC starts herding people into cathedrals at gunpoint and extorting tithes under torture, I really don't see how it is anyone else's business what they do.

You have to choose to be Catholic, no one is chaining you to the pew.

I guess what really chaps me is that some of the more vocal Neopagan critics of the new Pope would not stand to have either their rituals or their social attitudes dictated by the RCC, so why should the Pope listen to them? Simple courtesty.
