Technorati

The Technorati bits are working now

Technorati is the biggest blog tracking service out there. The good news is that the codes embedded in the pages seem to be working now, so hopefully that will lead to more traffic.

The bad news is that Technorati doesn't seem to have all my content linked, not even all the content on the front page. This gets to be fun.

UPDATE: Fun is one description.

Technorati only tracks the top page of a blog. That makes sense I guess, especially when considering the number of blogs they track. They also require a date string within any entries they track.

Apparently when iBlog codes a page, only the most recent entry within a "date block" is associated with that date. So if I had two entries for a day, one would show in Technorati and the other wouldn't. There is probably a work around, but I haven't pulled my handy dandy JavaScript book and puzzled out a fix yet.

On the other hand, gregjsmith and bm have been enormously helpful with their suggestions and tutorials for making iBlog dance to another tune.

I also spent a little bit of time bashing out a quick version of the site logo that looks good at thumbnail size. You can see it at the site's Technorati Profile.

I should be back to real blogging by tomorrow, even if I don't that the date thing fixed yet.
