French visited Guantanamo Bay prisoners

Gallic diplomacy or moralizing after the fact?

It doesn't surprise me that as the French government was loudly denouncing Guantanamo Bay, they were sending intelligence agents to speak to the prisoners.

After all, the French publicly pushed for a weapons embargo on Iraq while selling weapons under the table in exchange for oil.

The real question is why the French have moral authority for doing so?
