Disarming Muslims?

A columnist misses the point and enables victimhood

Arnold Kling missed the point here.

I believe that what we need going forward is a policy of disarming Muslims. I believe that we must keep devout Muslims away from weapons, and keep weapons away from devout Muslims. I can work with Muslims, send my children to school with Muslims, and be friends with Muslims. I do not have an issue with their religion, as long as they do not have weapons. However, the combination of weapons and Islam poses unacceptable danger to the rest of us.

Armed Muslims aren't the problem.

It's that the Western governments have a program from disarming their own citizens, and have been following it for decades.

The Islamists (Muslim extremists) are taking the same route to power that our own governments took. He who has the guns makes the rules.

Or might makes right.

By turning people into unarmed victims, the various Western governments made these tactics successful long before 9-11.

Muslims are entitled to the same arms as anyone else. But it is time to drop the fiction that an unarmed populace can be protected by the world's boogeymen if we only wish hard enough, play nice and eat all our veggies.
